Cuda Custom Appears at Mopar Spring Fling

Mopar Spring Fling in Van Nuys, California was not only full of some great Mopars, but the Cuda one-off custom from the 2007 SEMA was there in a new coat of paint.. The Cuda was a convertible done in a lighter version of Plum Crazy with a fresh smelling white leather interior.

On the inside

The plaque on the passenger side dash indicated it was an SRT8 version. The interior included SRT8 seats done in white leather with shoulder belt pockets attached. The rest of the interior was standard LX platform dash, steering wheel and door panels and included a rear seat entertainment option.

On the exterior

The body was done in a light purple which can best be described as a lilac metallic. The taillights are very simular to the early Cudas with the three-bar design. The taillight panel and the lights themselves were completely flat across, definetly needs some trim styling. Dual rectangular exhaust tips protruded out from the rear pan. The trunk contained a carbon fiber decklid to add some color style to the mix. The hood was also carbon fiber with a classic shaker hood scoop styled after the 1970 Cuda.

The front end captures the design of the 1970 Cuda grille with what appears to be stainless steel inserts. The front bumper was done in body color and completely desappears into the design. The side view of the car reveals a bland style with color keyed mirrors and bumper along with a lack of trim, decals and a rear bumper. The wheels were 20-inch customs and looked more like an aftermarket chrome model rather the the usual factory aluminum styles.

A Cuda version that captures the best of the early model is currently in the works by HXC Performance. The HXC model utilizes the 1971 Cuda grille which I feel showcases the Cuda feel with its signature fish gill design. More at HXC
