Frank Hawley's Drag Racing School offers excellent courses in drag racing. They have race courses for Super Gas Firebirds, Super Comp Dragsters, Pro Stock Bikes, Alcohol Funny Car and Dragster. They also have race technicians courses if you like to work in the pits.

I was fortunate enough to attend the gas course, which is a two day course. In the gas course you have a choice of a supercomp dragster or a supergas firebird. I chose the dragster as it was the faster of the two and the alure of driving a dragster has always been a passion. The course includes six runs down the drag strip, but more runs can be purchased based on class size and time available. The six runs are progressive down the track and requires your ability to correctly drive the race car safely. I attended the school in California, which is held at the Pomona race track, home of the Winternationals and the World Finals in NHRA. School starts with a classroom session in the race tower suites over looking the drag strip. The instructor, "Fast"Jack Beckman, is very professional, fun and very personalable. I must say Jack has a great connection with people and makes everyone's experience better than they could have expected. In the course they will make you familar with the car, the track and all the steps you need to make it safely down the track. You will get to do a burnout for each run and stage the car. The experience is incredable and well worth the time and money.

I highly recommend this course to anyone interested in getting their NHRA license, anyone who wishes to brush up on their skills, or anyone looking for a thrill.
